Video review – Mercedes A200d AMG

I really like the chequered design on the dial background

I’ve borrowed a 2016 Mercedes A200d AMG from a local dealer, Kevin Giles Motors, for review.   I like this version of the A class from Merc – its a much better shape and interior than the original one they launched.  Having test driven two cars already in this hatchback segment, the Peugeot 208 and the Hyundai i20, how will the Merc fare?

Mercedes A Class recalls

The steering column is not sufficiently earthed. As a result, in the event of an electrostatic discharge, the driver’s airbag may be triggered when not required. This could cause an accident.

The recall affects vehicles produced between 11/2011 and 07/2017.

The starter current limiter may be overloaded and overheat. As a consequence, the surrounding components could ignite, leading to a fire.

The recall concerns vehicles manufactured between February 2014 and February 2017 .

The mixture ratio of the fuel in the inflators of the front-passenger knee, pelvic and side curtain airbags may not be correct. In the event of an accident requiring the deployment of the airbags, this could lead to the airbags not inflating properly.

The recall concerns vehicles manufactured between 8. 8. 2016 – 6. 3. 2017.

Incorrect fitting of the pre-fuse box may lead to fire and to the loss of electrical power. In the case of a break in the contact, the engine can cut out while the vehicle is in motion and the steering assistance, the SRS system (e.g. airbags), ESP or instrument panel can fail, with an increased risk of injuries.

The recall concerns vehicles which have been produced from March 2016 to April 2016.

Deformation of the casing of the rear lefthand sidebags could cause them to be blocked or become damaged when triggered in the event of an impact.

Cracks may form in the high-pressure fuel pipes leading to a fuel leak and a vehicle fire.

The recall affects vehicles with four-cylinder diesel engine manufactured between 28 October 2015 and 19 November 2015

Incorrect software was installed in the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) control device of the vehicles affected.

The recall affects vehicles manufactured in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Owing to the incorrect installation of fuses, various vehicle functions might fail. These include the passenger presence detector for the passenger seat, the status display for the passenger airbag, the instrument cluster and the windscreen wipers. This could lead to an accident or an increased risk of injury for the passenger in the event of an accident.

The recall affects vehicles produced between 9 September and 7 November 2014.
